John Fitch petition, 1788.

Petition made to the Connecticut legislature by John Fitch of Philadelphia. Fitch was requesting that a law be passed giving him exclusive rights to construct, use, and navigate all fire or steam powered vessels in the state for the next 14 years. Includes several testimonials from those who have been on his boats, as well as a transcription of all the pieces.
